3 Tips for Healthy Anti-Aging Skin Care

When you got up this morning, did you look in the mirror and want to crawl back into bed because you didn’t like the way you looked? You’re not alone, but there are ways to slow down aging and look better. Here are some tips:

Drink Lots of Water

One of the most harmful things for your skin is dehydration. Nothing will make you look older faster than not drinking enough water. That’s because dehydration under your skin increases damage to the top layer of skin.

When you are not properly hydrated, you will first notice that there are wrinkles on your arms and hands. You will also see dryness on your heels and elbows. These are early warning signs. Soon you will notice a dramatic increase in facial wrinkling.

But the good news is that it’s never too late to slow down the process and to heal the damage that has already occurred. To do so, you will need to make sure you drink 64 ounces of water a day. That’s eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day. It sounds like a lot, but if you spread it out throughout the day, it is not overwhelming.

Reduce Skin Aging With Vitamins E and C

Vitamins C and E are very helpful in reducing skin aging because one of the main culprits is environmental pollution. These environmental factors include harsh chemicals, cigarette smoke, air pollution and plant herbicides among others.

It often takes years for the effects of these pollutants to show up on the surface of your skin, but they will be working behind the scenes to break down the living cells and will eventually cause major damage under the skin. They affect the collagen and elasticity of your skin which, in turn, causes your skin to droop and have more wrinkles.

So try to avoid situations where you will be exposed to environmental pollutants. You can also reduce the damage significantly by getting plenty of vitamins C and E. To do this, either eat foods high in these vitamins or supplement your diet with capsules of vitamins C and E.

Avoid The Sun

It is amazing how much damage exposure to sunlight can do to your skin. You may think you look young and sexy when your body is deeply tanned but the truth is that you are irreversibly damaging your skin. As you age, your skin will become leathery and wrinkled.

This doesn’t mean you can never go outdoors. It just means that you need to use common sense when out in the sun. It’s best to avoid the sun in the middle of the day and use sunscreen to reduce the effects of its harmful ultraviolet rays.

When you put sunscreen, be sure to notice how long it will be effective and reapply when that time is up. Too often, people apply sunscreen once and then don’t pay attention to how long it will last.

There is also another, very important reason why you need to avoid the sun’s damaging rays and that is skin cancer. This sounds fairly benign but it is actually one of the deadliest forms of cancer. Only lung cancer kills more people every year.
